Sometimes, coming to the doctor or getting help can be hard, especially if you have a disability or find some things tricky. But we can make changes to help you. These are called Reasonable Adjustments.
What Are Reasonable Adjustments?
They are small changes we make to help you feel more comfortable and get the care you need. Everyone is different, so the help you need might be different from someone else.
Here are some examples of Reasonable Adjustments:
- Sending you text messages instead of calling you
- Making letters and signs with bigger writing
- Giving you more time to talk and feel calm
- Helping you fill in NHS forms
There are many more ways we can help—just tell us what you need!
How you can help us help you
We’d like to know if you need any Reasonable Adjustments. We’d also like to write this down in your health records, so everyone on our team knows how to help you.
We can also tell other NHS or care teams what you need—but only if you say it’s okay. This way, they can help you too.
Can these adjustments change?
Yes! Your needs can change, and that’s okay. For example:
- Maybe you need big writing now
- Later, you might want someone to read things to you
- Or maybe you’ll need a home visit someday
You can ask for more than one kind of help. You can also change your mind anytime. Just let us know and we’ll update it.
